On Monday, October 17th at 4:45 p.m. in Room L204, the Widener Law & Government Institute will host “Careers, Pizza, and the Federal Reserve.” Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia Vice President and General Counsel Jeanne R. Rentezelas will speak to students on the Harrisburg campus about the world of financial regulation and job opportunities for attorneys in the field.

"Jeanne Rentezelas will talk about her career in an area of the law that students may not have yet considered for practice – financial regulation,” says Associate Professor Jill Family, adding, “Not only is this area of the law a hot topic in the news, but Jeanne will also share career planning advice with students interested in practicing in this area."

Jeanne R. Rentezelas was appointed as Vice President and General Counsel for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia in June of 2010. Previously, she served as counsel at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the FDIC, Rentezelas practiced with Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, LLP, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, where she advised financial institutions on financial regulatory matters. A graduate of Cornell University, she earned her J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law.

Free pizza will be served at the event, and interested students are encouraged to attend.

First of all, thank you to everyone who took the time to write such heartfelt comments yesterday. You guys are very sweet and I feel very lucky to have so many voices of reason ready to jump in when I need it.

I'm not gonna say my issues are magically fixed, because of course they aren't. Wouldn't life be fabulous if that was the way it worked? But today was a pretty damn good day for me, and I'm feeling much happier and just generally positive. I got a handful of new matters to work on at work, including one that was previously being handled by another attorney, but was removed from him and given to me because my boss feels better with it in my hands. Which makes me feel pretty good. So I'm busier, which means I'm earning more money, which solves one of my major sources of anxiety right now. I also got my first paycheck from the new job today. Thank god! Funny how uplifting that can be.

Anyway, I'm in a good mood. I figured I'd express that as best I could in my shot today. I hope the rest of you had a great Thursday too. Big, virtual hugs all around.
